A quiet reading
We hold on to those who cannot meet us, grasping at shadows, hoping that if we pour out more, they will finally see our worth. We imagine love can shift every tide, soften every guarded heart, turn absence into presence.
Sometimes we stay as the fixer, the healer, the one determined to prove that love does not abandon the broken. We carry what was never ours alone, mistaking endurance for devotion.
Other times we stay from fear: that love is supposed to ache, that loneliness will be heavier, that nothing gentler will come. We quiet our needs, shrink our voices, become echoes of ourselves.
Love should not require disappearance. It should not demand silence, self-betrayal, or endless waiting.
Letting go is not always failure. Sometimes it is self-honoring, a boundary drawn with a trembling hand. To walk away need not erase what was tender or true.
I cannot promise what love comes next. Perhaps it will arrive softly. Perhaps there will first be a long season of learning your own company.
Either way, you do not have to settle for a love that makes you smaller. Release what you can, not because the future owes you reverence, but because your life is worthy of room.
Take a moment before choosing what comes next.
