A quiet reading
If you are going to love, let it be awake. Let care take form in words, in touch that is welcomed, in the way your eyes stay present when another person speaks.
Do not love as if tomorrow cannot come. Love as if today is real, as if both lives matter, as if tenderness does not require either person to disappear.
The past may have taught your heart to guard its doors. Do not shame the guard. It survived for a reason. Open slowly where trust is earned. Let courage walk beside discernment.
Wounds are not healed by pretending they never happened. Sometimes they need time, distance, help, or the steady evidence of a different kind of care.
Love with purpose, but not possession. Show up when you can show up honestly. Apologize without demanding return. Keep a promise because it was freely made, not because suffering has become a test.
Love offers no guarantee. It asks for presence, choice, and the humility to know when holding on becomes harm.
So love with what is whole in you, and tend what is still becoming. Leave room for breath, for boundaries, for two complete lives meeting without erasure.
What else is love but this brave attention given freely, received freely, and renewed only while it remains true?
